Wake Up Routine

Last time we spoke, we were trying to get your sleep, in order. But what to do when we wake up? Well. picture this: You open your eyes as the sunrise pours into your window. Without a moment’s delay, you get out of bed and stretch. It’s an exciting day ahead and you can’t wait to get started.

I used to think that waking up early naturally was for the chosen few. I’ve always been a bit of a night owl, and having to get up early in the mornings was a struggle. But after I tried a few different strategies and changed up my routine, I realized that waking up energized was something that could be done.

It turns out how you approach your sleep and waking routine is largely a developed habit rather than a genetic trait. And if you’re like me, there may be some lifestyle choices that you make which will have a positive impact on the quality of your sleep.

Having a simple routine right after you wake up gives you a sense of direction and something to look forward to.

Why not try this wake up routine…

1️⃣ Get up immediately your alarm goes off ⏰

2️⃣ Drink 1-2 glasses of water - our bodies are severely dehydrated the moment we wake up so hydration is key. 🚰

3️⃣ Meditate for 5-10 minutes using an App such as Headspace or Calm.

4️⃣ If you enjoy exercise first thing in the morning, jump into today’s Movie Star Body workout OR if you are doing your workout later in the day, use this time to perform some foam rolling or mobility exercises.

5️⃣ Go shower and then eat breakfast 🍳 and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee ☕️.

6️⃣ Maybe you like to start off calmly by doing a bit of reading or the daily crossword puzzle. Do whatever helps you warm up for the day.

Now it’s your turn.  

You don’t have to create the same routine as above, but create SOMETHING. Make it specific to you and make it something that you will enjoy. The key is to make sure you COMMIT TO IT NO MATTER WHAT.

And in our honest opinion, NOTHING you do throughout the day is more important than doing something like this for yourself.

The truth is, you already have a wake up routine that you may not even be aware of. It could be you wake up, drink coffee, turn on the news, check your email, or visit Facebook.  

But, are those things really empowering you?  

Are they nurturing your body, making you happier, or bringing you closer towards the vision of who you want to be?
